Technical Details

The concert was recorded using DPA, Schoeps and AKG microphones running through a Yamaha 02R96 mixer and into Pro Tools HD (see photograph above). A stereo mix was fed to a Tascam HD-P2 recorder as a backup.

A ‘spaced omnis’ stereo microphone rig was used, the microphones being spaced 38cm apart. Spot microphones were placed on the soloists, cellos, double bass and harpsichord to help bring focus to the stereo field (see top photograph). The violins cut through fine without any need for their own microphones.
