This work is the result of a collaboration between JG and Staffordshire-based poet Barry Taylor. It was written for the Leeds Lieder Festival 2005.
Lasting approximately 10 minutes, It Creeps Up On You explores the relationship between voice and piano, and music and spoken word. The musical function of the soprano and piano is dislocated throughout, reflecting the situation described in the poem.
