I am lucky to own a selection of world-class equipment, selected specifically for high quality location classical recording. Based in Cambridge, I travel around the UK making professional recordings of classical musicians. I enjoy working in dedicated session-based recording situations, and also capturing live performances.
I have recently recorded the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Streetwise Opera (mixed choirs and soloists), Ryan Wigglesworth (composer/piano), Clare Booth (soprano), Sarah Nicolls (piano and live electronics), David Purser (trombone and live electronics) and Cambridge Camerata. Not to mention a member of the Siberian throat singing group, AltaiKAI.

Equipment
I record with the highest quality equipment throughout the signal chain for uncompromising clarity and realism. I use Schoeps microphones (used by BBC, Pavarotti and most CD labels), Broadhurst Gardens preamplifiers (of Decca heritage design) and RME analog to digital converters. I have a wide variety of low-visibility microphone mounts, auditorium hangers and stands for every occasion. Very long oxygen-free microphone cables allow the recording equipment to be located some distance away from the performance area allowing important mixing decisions to be made in an acoustically isolated room.
Recording equipment must be discrete during live performances, and not be a distraction to performers or audience. I use very high quality microphone rigs that are low in visibility and allows musicians to acoustically balance themselves to provide realistic and musically engaging recordings.
Delivery
Recordings can be delivered in a variety of industry standard formats including audio CD and high resolution audio data files on a DVD. I can optimise recordings for MP3 and internet streaming. Please enquire if you have a special requirement.

As a struggling composer, I understand that the arts is not always big business, so my rates are realistic and my broadcast-quality recordings represent good value for money.
